04 — Who built it

The answer was on page three. Finding it was the expensive part.

I have been a parent in family court for years, many of it without a lawyer. One night before a hearing I needed to know whether the order said Tuesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. I could ask a lawyer, at a rate my bank account could feel. Or I could read forty pages of Court orders, Parenting Coordinator emails, and parental agreements again at 11 p.m. and hope I didn't miss it, or worse, be wrong in Court.

What I needed was simpler than advice. The order on one side, what actually happened on the other, and the difference written down plainly enough that someone who was not there could trust it. Nothing I could buy did that. So I built it.
